Health Education Presentations by the Physician Assistant Studies Students
Students in the Physician Assistant Studies program, Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Wayne State University, provide health education presentations (e.g. hygiene, asthma) to Pre-kindergarten through Grade 5 students at Jamieson Elementary School, Detroit Public School District.
Pre-Sport Health Appraisals, Special Olympics
Students and faculty in the Physician Assistant Studies, Physical Therapy, and Occupational Therapy programs, Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Wayne State University, give free pre-sport health appraisals to more than 1,200 Special Olympians in the Detroit Public School District, Wayne County. Special Olympians live in medically underserved areas and are required to have health appraisals before participation in Special Olympic events.
Martin Luther King, Jr. - Cesar Chavez - Rosa Parks College Day Program
This program provides an opportunity for middle school students in the Detroit Public School District to tour the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and to learn about the educational process in the health sciences.
Mayflower Church Summer School Program
This full-day program offers student groups from Mayflower Church to visit the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Visitors meet with faculty, students, and staff to learn about the college’s health sciences programs.
Funeral Service Information Program
Middle and high school students are provided information about Funeral Service and Mortuary Science program offered through the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Wayne State University. The metropolitan Detroit area schools are Catherine Ferguson Academy, Sheryl Middle School, Fitzgerald High School, DePorres High School, Herman Academy, McKenzie High School, Cass Technical High School, and Mumford High School, all in Detroit; and Highland Park High School.
